This look was styled for DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse). They are having a Style Rep Contest and the challenge for this look was to show how you style patterns + prints.
These velvet, floral print, booties are from DSW and I decided to go with this classier bohemian look to get rid of always pairing everything with a denim pant or short.
This look is a mix + match between a lot. I decided to use an oversized blazer as a dress, which gave the look a little more class. The blazer is pin striped but totally does not distract from the statement bootie.
I also paired a snakeskin? belt with this pin stripe pattern and floral print. I did this mainly to show that you can work with different patterns in your outfit and don’t always have to match exactly.
→ In today’s fashion, I believe ‘style’ is a lot of ‘do what you want to do and own it.’ Yes, we look at trends and fads and what celebrity is wearing what, but watching runway shows you see a lot of ‘different and unique’ designs. Like things you would never think of wearing, but people call that high-end fashion. So do what you want, make a statement, mix things up, and don’t always be so cut and dry with what you think fashion and style is.
Oversized blazers can be awesome as a dress or with denim, or even over jumpsuits. So, if your dad, brother, grandpa, or whoever have a blazer they may not want anymore, go get it tailored to fit you and rock it ! or order an oversized girls one.
You may think you could never pull ‘that’ off, or you would look stupid, or people would be like ‘what the heck is she or he wearing’ . . . JUST DO IT. Speak for yourself, and act confident, even if you are a little out of your comfort zone. If you’re feeling it, do it. People will love it. → Act confident and no one will question you.
